GARRICK THEATER,
NEW YORK.
My dear W. Norton
I am very much
obliged to you for your
letter & it would have
afforded me great satis-
faction to do anything
to oblige you or my
friend Dr Donaldson,
but I find I shall be
forced to leave town
early in the autumn
to fill contracts made
previous to my
leasing this theater
and thus my great
plans for the coming
season will have to
not unhatched, for
the present. I hope
that Dr Donaldson will
get a good billet however,
for I am sure he
deserves one.
Please believe me to be
Very faithfully yours
Richard Mansfield
